Unfortunately the corporate execs just don't care, IMO. They're going to
use the Datsun name as a marketing tool, like they did in '78 when they
tried to trade on the 510's reputation by bringing out the HL510. Unless
someone with Mr. K's love of cars and enthusiasm ends up in a position to
change things.
That said, wasn't it the Breyers who organized the gathering in Williams,
AZ last fall? I'd love to see that event repeated and grow. The problem
with both Solvang and Shasta is location. You're simply not going to get as
much mid west and eastern participation as an event more centrally located
might attract. And please note that we we made the ''98 and '99 (All
Datsun) Shasta meets from DFW. The 2010 Mitty was great, but it's too far
east to attract many west coast folks.
In the past Les and some others have mentioned Colorado Springs. Both
Springs and Williams usually offer decent summer weather. Williams
(obviously) isn't as central, but it's a great location. We spent several
nights there last June while visiting the Grand Canyon. There's a train to
the Park and a Planes of Fame facility at Valle Airport, about halfway
between Williams and the Park entrance.
FWIW,
Ron

Why spend energy trying to make Nissan come around? Best thing to do is
> have a
> party with some nice examples of the cars and call the news media. Then
> look
> right into the camera and say that Nissan is dumb for not bringing the car
> back in a updated way. That should get the execs to wake up from their
> naps.
> Don't get me started LOL
