[Roadsters] Oil Pump Primer

HI:
While I prefer the spin the oil pump method it is possible to rig an
external oil pump to the main gallery at the forward gallery port by
removing the plug (Datsun part number 08931-3021A  with description of
:PLUG-HEXAGON TAPER THREAD, OIL GALLERY listed on page 179 of the Datsun
1600 & 2000 parts catalogue

attaching the pump.  See also picture attached It is necessary to also block
the oil pump to isolate the oiling system from the sump.  This can be simply
if inelegantly done by blocking the port with a solid sheet of casketing and
a flat block of your choice (see attached picture).  The system in the
picture was set up to insure that the spare engine was purged of oxidative
substances in the old oil.  I run the pump with synthetic detergent oil
until the camshaft holes bleed clear oil, for my purpose.  If for some
reason you do not want to spin the pump this method provides oil to all
parts except the oil pump.
