Could have been stored on its side. The dirt is more worrisome than where the oil had accumulated.

How nasty did the underside look when you dropped the oil pan?

Subject: [Roadsters] main bearing bolt holes

While finishing stripping an R16 block, I have found oil (very dirty
gritty oil) in all five of the bolt holes on the fuel pump side of the
block main bearings. The five on the other side were all dry.

Does this raise any red flags as to the general health of this block? I
do not know the history of it at all.

Thanks

Tim
