[Roadsters] parking brake handle

Oliver,

If by "loose", you mean it took too many "clicks" to set the brake, your
first effort should have been to make sure the rear brakes are properly
adjusted. That is normally the "problem" when one has to pull the handle
too far to set the brake. The brake should be set with 5 or 6 "clicks" on
the ratchet mechanism.

I don't think tightening the cable should have affected the position of the
release button. The release button/rod releases a pawl which acts on a
rachet plate within the handle mechanism. It sounds like something has
slipped out of place, but I cannot be sure. Try releaxing the cable. If
the button comes back, then I'm wrong.

The hand brake mechanism is Figure 35 in the Nissan parts manual. If you
have one of those $15 DVDs with the service manaul and parts listing, you
can call up the exploded diagram of the handle. If you don't have it, I can
scan the figure for you, but I don't have time tonight.

Gary
