[Roadsters] brake part interchangeability question

Craig,

Most brake parts are interchangeable across all years. The caliper
pistons
never changed. The early cars had 13/16-inch rear wheel cylinders,
while the
'67-1/2 and later had 3/4-inch cylinders. I have heard one can put
3/4-inch
rear cylinders on earlier cars, but you won't get as much rear brake
force. (I
believe the threads in the 3/4-inch cylinders' bleeder screws and
brake
lines are SAE.) I would not do it, mostly because I don't know how
significant
the effect would be.

Although dual-circuits, with a dual-piston
master cylinder and brake
propostioning valve, were introduced with the
'67-1/2s, I think the brake
pressure proportioning systems changed with later
cars. The brake proportioning
system will not be a factor for work at the
wheels.

Other than that, for the parts you are talking about replacing,
everything is
the same, including the fitting on the brake lines.

Subject: [Roadsters] brake part interchangeability
question

I have caliper kits, rear wheel cylinders, pads, shoes for my 69
2000 but have
to change car's I'm trying to get ready to go to the Glen...can
I use these on a
66 1600 or are the threads different? I don't remember where
the change came in
between standard and metric and when the size of the
caliper pistons
changed...guy who was supposed to be getting the body ready
for paint on the
2000 came over a couple weeks ago and cut the LR quarter out
and then never came
back....gotta have a driver for the Glen! nothing like
starting with a car that
hasn't been run in around 15 years, needs paint, no
interior, needs tires and
wheels, brakes and chrome....2 weeks before we're
supposed to be leaving for the
event 8-)

Thanks,
Craig
