Ron,

That's not paranoia, that's sound advice.

I'd dump the oil and filter and replace both, due to
possible water
condensation on top of the oil in the pan. Cheap insurance,
IMHO. Then
I'd pull the plugs and check them. Before reinstalling the plugs,
I'd
disconnect the power to the coil and spin the motor over with the
starter
until you see some oil pressure on the gauge. This will insure
that all of the
bearings have oil and won't be dry if the engine
starts quickly.

Am I
paranoid? You bet!

FWIW,
Ron

B The roadster has set, covered, for about
year and a half. B I did an initial
once over in the engine compartment to
make sure that there was no obvious
issues, no oil on the ground, leakage etc.
B I checked the water level in the
radiator and when I took off the radiator
cap it was under pressure, so I am
guessing that it is a good sign. B I tried
to start the car and got nothing. B
Yes the battery was completely dead. B I
have had the battery on a charger and
will put it back in tomorrow. B With
that said, do you have any suggestions on
steps that I should take before
trying to turn it over.
