thanks all for the input, once again.. I am heading to the auto shop this evening to get my basket full of goodies to give it a shot tomorrow. This does beg three additional questions.

1.) Recommend getting the EI Dizzy and replace the points one that I have?
2.) Currently have the old design oil filter, upgrade to a modern oil filter?
3.) Have the orginal radiator (I think 2 core) upgrade to something newer?

Thanks again. Oh and for the ones wanting to know if I want to sell it (cheap), I have had the car since college (about 20 years) so I would like to keep it :-)

I'd dump the oil and filter and replace both, due to possible water
condensation on top of the oil in the pan. Cheap insurance, IMHO. Then
I'd pull the plugs and check them. Before reinstalling the plugs, I'd
disconnect the power to the coil and spin the motor over with the
starter until you see some oil pressure on the gauge. This will insure
that all of the bearings have oil and won't be dry if the engine
starts quickly.

Am I paranoid? You bet!

I did an initial once over in the engine compartment to make sure that there was no obvious issues, no oil on the ground, leakage etc. I checked the water level in the radiator and when I took off the radiator cap it was under pressure, so I am guessing that it is a good sign. I tried to start the car and got nothing. Yes the battery was completely dead. I have had the battery on a charger and will put it back in tomorrow. With that said, do you have any suggestions on steps that I should take before trying to turn it over.
