[Roadsters] Timing: I'm not that dumb (am I?)

  Nathaniel,

Did you pull the distributor out? If so, make sure that you are not 360
deg out, firing when the intake and exhaust valves are open.

How about point gap? Is the points condenser connected?

Did you disconnect the low voltage wires from the coil? If so, be sure
the lead that goes to the points is connected to the minus terminal on
the coil.

Check the spark coming out of the coil to ground, it should be pretty
strong.

Since you have a '69, there is an extra wire from the ignition switch to
the coil or ballast resistor. Make sure it is hooked up.

Was the distributor the only thing you messed with?

If these don't find the problem please let me know and I can walk you
through some other tests.

Peace,
Pat

I've used all my standard tricks: 1) cleaning the spark plugs, 2) rotating the distributor to visually confirm that at TDC the rotor is pointing at the number one plug, 3) confirming spark, 4) confirming fuel, 5) recharging the battery. And still, no start. I get a very occational detonation when I spin the engine but not enough to even get the engine to sputter over, even once.
