[Roadsters] [SPAM] Datsun horn repair

Will the horns work without being hooked to the relay for testing purposes. I
just hooked up wires directly to the positive and negative on my battery and
they did not work. I have documentation stating a mechanic 30 years ago put a
horn button on the steering column and put in 2 horns on the firewall. Those
horns work and are probably run thru the relay. The original ones were
disconnected which are the 2 thatB I want to have repaired.

OK, I've been largly skimming this thread, not paying too much attention to
it,
until I put my horns back in today and guess what; B They didn't work.
Narrowed
it down to the relay. B Then found out I had swapped the ground and
supply wires
at the relay. B Ooooops. B No wonder it was heating up. B All is
fine now, horns
work. But there was a time today I was thinking I should
review all the
responses in this thread.

my early 67 worked. B I took them apart, couldn't figure
out how to fix them,
and then put them back together. B I was rather surprised
and self
congratulatory when in fact they started working. B ergo, if you B just
take
them apart as another lister said, make sure they aren't stuck, you may
also
be surprised.
