[Roadsters] Intermittent firing

I also have a 64 110 hp Corvair coupe, well, it is my wife's, but I have to
fix it.
 
It runs great, for about 5 miles, then starts bucking and kicking, and dies. I
put on rebuilt carbs, did a full tune up, points, plugs, wires, condenser, air
filter, etc., etc. 
 
No friggin difference. I just had to get towed home. Cost me $100, and I am
stymied.
 
Waited 2 hours, starts right up.
 
Any chance it is the coil? Any ideas? I think I replaced everything else,
except rhe distributor itself, but....
