[Roadsters] question regarding protecting paint from soft top

I've seen more than a few people just put some blue scotch tape on the body
before they put the top on. Another place to be careful of is the top of the
windshield frame.

  Has anyone found a way to protect the paint from scratching where  the 
soft top attaches via the bar to the rear two hooks and also around all the

snaps?
