[Roadsters] Trying to decide on an oil

"The key thing every one of them did was change the oil every 3k-5k miles."

The end doesn't necessarily justify the means... or something like that.

There's something else to consider... is it that the changing of the oil
that made the difference, or the overall maintenance? People who
meticulously change the oil every 3,000 miles may also be more likely to
do all the OTHER maintenance on a regular basis as well. That OTHER
maintenance has an effect on engine wear.

Someone who is meticulous on all maintenance but changes the oil every
6,000 miles may have the same engine wear results.

According to the consumer reports study, changing the oil more
frequently had NO NOTICEABLE effect on the wear. NONE. Cars that were
run for 9,000 mile oil change intervals had the SAME wear as cars with a
3,000 mile change interval.
