[Roadsters] What's the proper way to fill the cooling system on a 68 1600?

So I replace my alternator today & when I put the radiator back in, I filled
the cooling system with coolant via the filler cap, I ran the engine to temp
& continued to fill until full. I also made sure the overflow resevoir was
topped off. Is this the correct way to do this? When I turned off the engine
it sounded like coolant was gurgling, I assume there could be air in the
system. How do I burp the air out?
