I have to sell my 1969 1600 Datsun Roadster. Back problems and a general unwillingness to put more money into it and the inability to do the work myself has forced the sale . I've had it since 2000. It has been kept in my garage most of the time when I'm not driving it. I've probably put less than 10000 miles on it, very few the last five years. Interior is generally good. Upholstery is excellent and has been redone. Needs lock on center console compartment. The fan switch doesn't work, but a secondary switch has been mounted under the dash. Dashboard needs to be redone or covered. Carpet is excellent. Fairly new rag top in excellent condition over an older frame. All lights work. Windshield washer doesn't work. Choke cable has come undone and should be replaced as it doesn't move freely anyway, which is why it came undone in the first place. Boot for the top is in excellent condition.

Body is generally good. The body work done right after I purchased it wasn't very good and so there are a few issues of bondo coming loose. Mostly rust free that I can see except for under the driver door a spot about 1 1/2 round has rusted out. Paint looks good from a distance, but is cracking in a few places. Like I said, the job wasn't done very well. All lights are in working order. Bumpers are in average condition for a car this old and could either be made to look better or replaced.

Engine runs very well. An electric fan has been added by a previous owner. Transmission is good. Mileage is around 130000. Tires look good, but they are around 10 years old. Plenty of tread on them, but the age may be suspect. One wheel has a stripped bolt. The nut remains tight, and I have the extra bolts that go on the wheel, just never got around to replacing them. There are very slow drips of engine oil and trans axle oil. Not so that you can tell over say a year or so. Would have cost me more to replace the gaskets than I wanted to spend and I can't do the work myself.

Now the price: $3000 firm. You can drive it home if it will start with the broken choke cable. Probably would take two people, one cranking the engine and the other under the hood operating the choke. Once it warms up, no problem driving. I haven't had it on any long trips of over 50 miles in the last couple of years, but it seems to do fine. I have just registered it so the registration is good until next August, I believe. I have lots of paperwork from the previous owner.

E-mail me if you want pics, and I know you do. You can call 530-674-3451for any other questions. I live in Yuba City, CA which is about 45 minutes north of Sacramento.
