 The brake switch on your '67 should be the pressure switch at the firewall.
You can simply connect those two wires together to operate the brake lamps.
Dirty connections or faulty ground are likely causes for malfunction.
If the circuit checks out OK by shorting the wires at the pressure switch,
the switch itself may be faulty.

"I've checked the connections by the brake switch and they seem to be fine
as is the connection to the brake lights. How would I even track down the
inherent problem. I have an early 67 1600."
