[Roadsters] I pulled a "Triumph"! (all smoke released from circuit)

So, when I started up to drive to the employee car show this morning,
the previously "always runs hot" fuse decided to give up the ghost, in a
smoky fashion.
Background:
Stock fuse location ran hot, like 200+ (real easy to find in the dark -
YEOW!). Suggestion was to soak the contacts in vinegar to remove
corrosion. But, you have to completely remove the fusebox to soak it.
So, I got a moden ATC in-line fuse holder, removed the pair of leads
from the old fusebox, installed it in-line, so now I have a jumper
around the "problem".
Only now the ATC fuse runs hot, and it is made of plastic, so over time
it gets to be looking a but like a Picasso painting of a ATC fuse, due
to heat.
Today, exceeded the melting point of an ATC fuse. When I pulled it out
(smart enough to use a rag now) it came out in pieces, hot, steamy,
dripping pieces.
So, first thing is to replace the jumper, but then next is to check the
amperage going across the fuse contacts and then start unplugging things
(I suspect taillite buckets) until the amperage reads normal again.
So, the normal amperage value is: _____???
Thanks again wiring gurus,
