[Roadsters] Windshield Post Weather stripping

I am having Eliza repainted and there is a question about weather stripping
when I dress her up again.  There is a piece of w/s that goes between the
winshield post the the window. I have heard that there is supposed to be a
metal strip that holds said w/s into the post as opposed to gluing it down.

This is a 1970

Any thorts????????//
