So, any comments from those running aftermarket gauges? Alvin (Classic) and
MarkS (Auto Meter) come to mind. Ever check 'em for accuracy?

Good excuse to "invest" in some electronic/digital gauges. HAHAHAHA! Come
on! Your wife will buy that one! "It's cheaper than all those damn speeding
tickets, honey!"

You would actually be surprised at how accurate these gauges were when new
and how accurate they can become?once they are repaired properly.?The
problem starts when?we mix different size wheels and tires or?substitute the
wrong cables to drive them. (And from there is gets worse through
the?mutlitude of attempted?repairs performed on the kitchen table) Believe
it or not, they still use the very same style mechanical tachometer on
virtually all small aircraft as are used in our cars and I have seen them
last well over 30 years.?Most of our cars are?over 40 years old so it's
not?a stretch so say they may need a little attention but if done correctly,
you will probably only need it done once.

The factory tach is at least as inaccurate as the speedo if not more.
