Gary McCormick just blew an artery reading that poem...
And to be proper, wouldn't a "gage" belong in the glove compartment?
Thought I'd throw that one down. :)
Phil, I tried guitar, it was ugly. I went back to cars. I think I have 2
left brains (or right ones, can't remember which does what).
I'm not highly educated, just High School and Automotive Tech School,
one of those "C" students in the leather jacket who missed English class
to finish up in auto shop. (But a National Merit Scholar from SAT
scores) Mistyping on a forum etc., OK, we are all human, but the things
Gary mentioned, bad grammar and spelling becoming the accepted norm,
makes me NUTS. I try to avoid eBay sellers who spell like that on
principle.
My boss refers to it as "forward thinkers", like an installer or an
engineer, those who build, and "reverse thinkers", repair technicians,
auto mechanics, those who can diagnose and repair. Rarely do people
have both talents. The forward thinkers tend to spell better. I would
defiantly be the reverse thinker. It's a chore for me to type to my own
standards.

But Spell Checkers are not always the answer:
Eye halve a spelling chequer
It came with my pea sea
It plainly marquees four my revue
Miss steaks eye kin knot sea.
Eye strike a key and type a word
And weight four it two say
Weather eye am wrong oar write
It shows me strait a weigh.
As soon as a mist ache is maid
It nose bee fore two long
And eye can put the error rite
Its rare lea ever wrong.
Eye have run this poem threw it
I am shore your pleased two no
Its letter perfect awl the weigh
My chequer tolled me sew.
