[Roadsters] Since the list is so quiet

I was thinking the same thing. Craigslist is too local, and the message
boards are very "local" in the cyber sense. 311's has a classified, but I
think Ebay has the challenge of the hunt for the buyers, and the possibility
of bidding wars and high sale price for the seller keeps people on Ebay. The
$400.00 rust-free roadster, the $42.00 ($600.00 retail) diamond plate truck
box for the $3000.00 6 year old pickup truck and the $9.99 4HP aircompressor
I got are all from Ebay, and wouldn't happen on Craigslist or a classified.
I think you will see shipping and handling go through the roof as a way to
pay fees. Paypal, for me, has been really good. The fees for international
transactions are a bit crazy, but the few times I had a problem as a buyer
and a seller, they came through. I've also heard horror stories. Between
Ebay and Paypal fees, they are getting maybe 15%+. No big surprise, all good
things eventually get to be a profit game, except maybe Craigslist.
One possibility is if we, as a group, pick one local Craigslist, like
northern Maine, and post and look there. I don' know if they have rules.
I was going to sell the EI Distributors and other ignition components on
Ebay, but the extra charges make that a bad idea. Unless someone knows a
better way, I'm stuck with Paypal for international payments and it's not
too bad for domestic. I may use my Wife's Mary Kay credit card service, but
then the buyer loses protection and so do I.

I thought I would pose a question to those of you who use ebay...
Does any one have an alternative to selling on ebay?
I see they are lowering the fee to list an item. But at the same time they
are raising the final value fee to almost 10%. I hate to pay them the kind
of money they are almost extorting out of the people who use that site.
And Paypal is just as nuts and is owned by ebay in case any of you didn't
know that.
Thanks for the vent!
PEACE :-)
