The R16 hits max torque somewhere about 4100 rpm. Best fuel economy is
around 3200-3600. This according to the factory shop manual.
(2L top torque roughly about 4200 SU and 4800 Solex.)
My 2L turns 4k at 80mph oops I mean 3k at 60mph in 5th. My 1600
spins a little faster 'cause I don't have the extra gear. Four bangers
want to rev to make power, so 3500 is probably just waking it up.
