[Roadsters] Quick overheating

The stinker is that there's no real way to test one- (any ideas, all?)
you can unhook a hose and check for 'good flow' when
the engine's cranking, but I've got no idea what 'good flow' is!
I've always removed 'em and looked at the impeller- once, on a
car which overheated quickly, the impeller had fallen off the shaft!
sorry, not much help here,
Toby

If the waterpump is not leaking from below, what is the best way to
test it? Can you assume it works if both radiator hoses get hot thus
assuming the water is circulating? Or could the water get hot without
a functioning water pump?
TIA
Linda

2 thoughts, first is 'doh'-
it does have a fan belt on it, right?
Second is, if a compression test turns out ok,
check the water pump. They don't usually fail,
but it's possible. Or, a large piece of crud
has gotten loose and blocked a passage....
