Another lube you can try is liquid dishwashing detergent.
A little of that goop smeared around the inside of the hose and VIOLA! "in
like Flynn" as they say. 

When you are putting on your lower radiator hose. HOW THE HELL DO YOU GET
THE HOSE TO GO ONTO THE LOWER PART OF THE RADIATOR? Sorry for the yelling
bit.
