May have mentioned this site before but it allows you to plug and play with
tyre sizes to see what the result is: -
 http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

If you use the following numbers, for example, the tyres are near as dammit
what the factory fitted.
For 310s use 560 x 13: equates to a 145[5.6" or 560]/80 x 13" [22.1" diam].
For 311s use 560 x 14: equates to a 145[5.6" or 560]/75 x 14" [22" diam].
A 175/60 x 14 [22.3" diam.] gives a closer match to the 145/75 but
availabilty is always an issue.
Always wise to try and maintain the same diameter or circumference for
gearing and speedo considerations.

"Thanks for your responses. I also did some research on the internet and
called various tire suppliers. Here's what I found: OEM was 5.60S14.
Apparently that is an old-school number that has been superseded. The new
equivalent is 175/65R14. From what I can figure out, it is not exactly the
same dimensions as OEM, but it is as close as you're gonna get. BTW,
depending on make, model and dealer, cost is anywhere from $40 to $100 per
tire.
