What are you running for ignition?
Stock dizzy, points and coil, or something else?  (also with or without the resistance wire in the stock harness?)

Hmm, sounds more like lean fuel mixture than ignition. Worst case is part
throttle, warm engine.
Is it EFI or Carb? Anything else changed recently? Last years gas?
