[Bricklin] Bricklin International Owners Club Membership Letter & Board Members Needed

All members of Bricklin International:

The current board of the Bricklin International Owners Club sent the following out to all current dues-paying members of the club. We are in dire need to officers that wish to volunteer their skills, abilities, and time in a leadership capacity to keep the club alive and moving forward. The letter and a ballot for folks to return was sent a few weeks ago, with a requested return date of May 10th. One has to be a member of Bricklin Int. in order to serve on the board. We will be further discussing/voting on the membership of the board at this years meet in Indianapolis (from July 9th - 13th, 2025) with the final voting by all in attendance (and any floor nominations that may occur) to happen at the final banquet/membership meeting on Saturday, July 12th. While you do not need to be present at the meet to run for an office, a nomination and write up on the nominee needs to be received prior to the 12th of July. If you wish to nominate someone other than yourself (esp. someone that is not currently serving in a leadership role with the club), please make sure that you have their approval prior to doing so. 

Unfortunately, due to the pending departures of several current board members, if we do not get an adequate response of people who wish to serve the club in an altruistic fashion, the current board will be forced to make what is likely to be a painful decision on whether or not to shutter the club after the meet. 

As such, this is an opportunity for those long term BI member, Bricklin.org forum members, and Facebook participants of various Bricklin pages to get involved and assist/guide the club into the future. This also allows folks to promote the marquee and the car and keep it alive for the next generation of Bricklin owners and admirers.

Greetings Member of the Bricklin International Owners Club (Club). 

Thank you for your continued membership in the club. The 2025 Meet marks the 50th annual meet of the club. Quite the success story! 

The current Board of Directors felt that the information contained in this mailing be sent individually to members versus dissemination in The Brickline magazine due to the importance of its contents. Please read through to the very end. 

During the annual meeting (held during the banquet at the annual meet), the past several years, it has been stressed by both the club President, Robert Zee as well as the club Chairman, Steve Stratton, that the club needed your help. Volunteers are needed to keep the club viable in the areas of Regional Directors and Board officers. Volunteers have not been forthcoming and it has now put the club in peril of having to be dissolved. 

The Club Bylaws dictate that there must be a minimum of five Board Members. Below are the current Board Members:

o Bricklinalia (not a Board Position): Rose Stayton 
Vice President Publications: Stuart Zukrow 
Vice President Technical Services: Mark Stayton (Commonly referred to as Chief Judge)
Vice President Operations: Jeff Sheehan (Commonly referred to as Membership Chairman)

As of the next annual meeting (to be held at the banquet in Indianapolis on Saturday, July 12, 2025) there are multiple openings needing to be filled to keep the club alive. These positions are Recording Secretary, Vice President Technical Services (what we commonly refer to as Chief Judge), Vice President Operations (what we commonly refer to as Membership Chairman) and, while not a Board Position but a very important aspect of fundraising for the club, Bricklinalia Chairman. 

Now, this being said, even though the incumbents in the remaining positions (President, Executive Vice President, Vice President Finance and Vice President of Publications) are willing to remain in their current positions, this does not mean that the membership cannot nominate another candidate for these positions. 

Below is a brief description of what each position is responsible for. 

PRESIDENT: The President shall be the chief executive officer of the Corporation, shall preside at all meetings of the members and the Board of Directors; shall gave general and active management of the business of the Corporation and shall carry out and effectuate, or cause to be carried out and effectuated, all orders and resolutions of the Board of Directors. 

EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT: The Executive Vice President shall in the absence or disability of the President, perform the duties and exercise the powers of the President and shall perform such other duties and have such other powers as the Board of Directors may from time to time prescribe. 

VICE PRESIDENT OF TECHNICAL SERVICES: The Vice President of Technical Services shall be responsible for establishing the judging standards to be employed during the club meets and he or his representative shall preside over all judging at club meets. The annual Technical Seminar and dissemination of pertinent technical data shall be managed by the Vice President of Technical Services 

VICE PRESIDENT OF PUBLICATIONS: The Vice President of Publications shall be responsible for the content, format, release, production, printings and distribution to members of all publications of the corporation 

RECORDING SECRETARY: The Secretary shall attend all meetings of the Board of Directors and all meetings of the members and shall record all proceeding which occur at or in the course of meetings and shall perform like duties for the standing committees when required. 

VICE PRESIDENT OF FINANCE: The Vice President of Finance shall have the custody of the corporate funds and securities and shall keep full and accurate accounts of receipts and disbursements and shall deposit all monies and other valuable effects in the name and to the credit of the Corporation in such depositories as may be designated by the Board of Directors. 

VICE PRESIDENT OF OPERATIONS: The Vice President of Operations maintains the electronic records of members of the Corporation both paying and complementary / honorary members. (S)he mails out renewal notices annually, receives new member applications and processes the information by updating the electronic records and submitting the payment to the Vice President of Finance. (S)he also provides a mailing list quarterly to the Vice President of Publications for mailing of the The Brickline magazine. 

BRICKLINALIA CHAIRMAN: The Bricklinalia Chairman is responsible to attend all meets to set up a display of Bricklinalia merchandise that is to be sold to attendees. The chairman is also responsible to refresh the merchandise to keep it pertinent to the club, while not sitting on inactive merchandise. Annual meet t-shirts, while designed and ordered by the Meet Directors, are sold and maintained by the Bricklinalia Chairman. Members (and sometimes non-member) may reach out throughout the year requesting merchandise be mailed to them by the Bricklinalia Chairman. The Bricklinalia Chairman also is vital to the Vice President of Finance during the annual auction with keeping records of who bid on an object and collection of funds due at the end of the auction. 

Included in this mailing is a four-page nomination form and a self-addressed envelope. Please include all four pages, even if you are only nominating someone on one page. This way we know we are not missing anything. We ask that you only nominate yourself or another club member (to whom you have personally spoken), who is willing to step in and step up. Please include contact information for anyone nominated as we will be contacting the nominee to ensure they want to be on the final ballot. Nominations must be received by May 10, 2025 

Once all the nominees are confirmed, another letter will be mailed to all paying members of the club with a ballot to vote on incoming officers. The due date for the ballots will be included in that communication. 

NEXT STEPS: If we do not have adequate nominees and elections, the next step would be to dissolve the club and this would also need to be discussed by the membership present at the Annual Meeting on July 12, 2025.
