My uncle worked for 3M for 40 years and I asked him about what to use. He had their tech department answer my questions and this is what they recommended. When my uncle retired from 3M a couple of years ago, I asked if he could get me a deal on some. He did. I would be willing to send a kit to whom ever wants one, if they pay for the shipping. The kit is 2 oz of part A and 1.3 oz of part B with instructions - mix in a 3:2 ratio. Very simple, easy cleanup. I love the stuff. Caution: do not use on your kids' lips, no matter how much you want to....not in the instructions but a condition of sale. I regret to say, I sent out all of the extra kits I had. I would recommend calling 3M or going on their web-site for a dealer in your area. I don't know how much the stuff would cost. It works well. Terry Tanner says he prefers this over a timing light. Connect a vacuum gauge to a good vacuum source on the engine, advance the timing until maximum vacuum is achieved then retard it about one pound. Our Concours is held at Keeneland Thoroughbred Racing Course (a beautiful venue) every July in Lexington, Kentucky. This year the Concours will be held on July 17th. I am responsible for finding 10 concours quality entrants for Class 9, which is Sports Contemporary (1975-1999), and I think a Bricklin would be a great component of this class. More information about our Concours is available at http://www.keenelandconcours.com/. There are some great ancillary events leading up to and following day of show also, so one could make a vacation out of the event or just drive in for the Concours. All proceeds benefit the Kentucky Children's Hospital, an extremely worthwhile and beneficial non-profit hospital. I would greatly appreciate it if you could advise as to any owners of Concours quality Bricklins that would be interested in attending the Concours. There is no cost involved (other than travel and lodging) and each entrant receives a very nice package of gifts and meals on the day of show. Please contact me with any leads, and please spread the word among your community. Best regards, Brian Duba Attorney at Law | Frost Brown Todd LLC 250 W. We was asking me if I know of any areas that would make the car better. Any thing you all can think of. A couple of things he and I were discussing were: 1. improving gas milage - he's working on a couple of ideas. Bottom line, is if we can get better gas milage, would people drive them more? Or would they invest the money to update their car? 2. cooling. He is working on an all AL radiator to just drop in. While you can get a Griffin radiator, he's tried it in one of his cars. He said that it really didn't see to make it run any cooler. The one he's working on now does. I should mention that it's not a stock engine, so it needs more cooling than a normal 75 Bricklin. Can you all think of anthing that should be addressed? Areas that are problems on the Bricklin, like the electric door solenoids. He fixed that with the air solenoids. My '75 ran hot for years and I tried all kinds of things none of which were very successful until I put in one of the high capacity radiators that John Martin was selling. I haven't had to worry about it running hot since. I am skeptical that anything to improve mileage would help much. For one thing, I doubt you could get any significant improvement for a reasonable price. Most of us don't drive our Bricklins enough miles in a year for improved mileage to save much money anyway. Another idea is a five or six speed manual transmission conversion. It would be more fun to drive with a manual. The AC is a weak point. Terry already offers brackets to relocate the air box and I think he has a higher speed blower motor. Is there more that could be done? Maybe a more efficient compressor? A way to tell if a door is bent or not. We really do not have any way to measure if a door is bent. Power windows would be a big one for me. Cannot seem to find a good option. Cigarette power options for GPS, IPOD, Phone charges, etc. Maybe in a new console or something hidden. Lot;s of room behind the passengers side dash. A kit to remove the vacuum headlights with something electric. I believe we are getting carried away with this use of air options. Gas mileage should improve with the overdrive transmission swap. Mine is running about 1800 RPM's at 70 MPH with the 700R4. I still owe you an article on that swap. EFI would help mileage, but those options are currently to expensive for a Bricklin. My best investment for cooling was a high flow thermostat and water pump. Unfortunately I had to buy the thermostat from Summitt so it was pricey with their handling charge. The local shops did not know what I was asking for. Kind of a brain dump, but hopefully will trigger some other owners thoughts. Greg 0036
