[Bmcu] thinking of Series Land Rover...

OK, here it is...could anyone with experience owning a Series Land Rover share their thoughts/ideas with me regarding extra costs/maintenance involved in owning one?  I'm looking at a 1961...it has some issues...I'm wondering about costs to fix a few things.  Rob in Pine Brook--are you out there?
The second trip down there I took 230 photos on my digital camera to try to suss out any issues...and I've got some concerns.  Although few concerns about rust...more transmission and mechanical.
Please--no ridiculous comments or dissing my mother (remember, I also own an MG).
