The session will focus on carburetors and will include an extra special guest speaker; Dave Maxwell. Dave has many experience with British cars and will be covering all aspects of the little understood SU carburetor. In addition of carburetors there will time to work on any other project that member may want to bring and of course this will be a great opportunity to get a jump on spring maintenance. So, if you have a carburetor that needs to be rebuilt, or have any other brit-mobile project you should plan on bringing it. Also, if you plans will require a rebuild kit or any other parts, you better order them now. Food, beverages, tools and four letter words will be provided. If you have any questions or if you would just like to do something a little different, email Rich at richornot at comcast.net Details to follow. Some Spitfire body panels, an old 220 volt stick welder, a Ford 711M block, crank and such from a Lotus Europa, a set of bathroom scale and lever arm based car weighing stuff. Lots of odds and ends, Triumph parts and such, like a bare steel hardtop shell for round tail Spits. Sigh. mjb. Message-ID: Boy, when I posted my question about a down pipe I had no idea I would receive such an outpouring of help. Thanks to everyone for everything. Rich gave me a tip that proved very effective when he steered be towards The Roadster Factory. They did in fact have a downpipe for a 77 and is was inexpensive too! It was also the last one they had in stock. They informed me that the company who made them are now out of business. I got pretty lucky. Thanks, Rich! That was so successful maybe someone out there can help me with this next one. I'm looking for a few replacement body parts for the 77 MGB now. 1) The old girl looks like she took a small bump in the front right corner of and trying to tap it back into place is just not working, so I need a new passenger side front fender. 2) The boot lid is torqued a bit too hard by the single boot support. It's actually torn the metal across the inside of the lid. 3) Lastly I'm looking for a replacement bonnet. The one I have has taken a few too many hits to the head. Since I'm dropping those rubber bumpers for a new shiny chrome one, I'm thinking you'll likely see how bad off the hood is when it's right up next to that beautiful new chrome grill. So, if anyone has a cannibalized MG that still has a little meat on it's bones, I'd love to take one or all of these parts off your hands... for a fair price of course. ;) - Fletch From memorablemotorcars at comcast.net Thu Mar 29 20:19:54 2012 From: memorablemotorcars at comcast.net (memorablemotorcars at comcast.net) Date: Fri, 30 Mar 2012 02:19:54 +0000 (UTC) Subject: [Bmcu] Fwd: Jaguar for sale 1981 XJ6/8 In-Reply-To: <1454551805.682021.1333041101481.JavaMail.root@sz0039a.emeryville.ca.mail.comcast.net> Message-ID: <2061115773.707601.1333073994147.JavaMail.root@sz0039a.emeryville.ca.mail.comcast.net> ----- Forwarded Message ----- From: memorablemotorcars at comcast.net To: "bmcu-CLUB" Sent: Thursday, March 29, 2012 11:11:41 AM Subject: Jaguar for sale Hi Guys, I have decided to sell Jag. I have driven it twice in the past 3 years since I inherited my Dads MGTD. She needs a new home. She lives in a climate controlled shop and has only seen snow through the windows. I have a written appraisal for 20k which was done shortly after her heart transplant. She beats with a 350 Chevy crate motor and a 700R4 automatic overdrive transmission. She is a wonderful highway cruiser, extremely smooth and effortless to drive. She passes the state & emission test every year like a new car. She was born in 1981 and was sold and raised in California. Her wheels were a Jag option and are very rare. Her tires are 3 years old and have less than 500 miles on them.I had her painted about 5 years ago a 1989 Jag Champagne color that was close to the original but much more depth. The interior is white leather and in very good condition. she has a little over 80k original miles. She wants a new home where she can get out more often. For $8500. you can take her home.
