Message-ID: Greetings Gentlemen and Ladies, time to "Start Your Engines". The final arrangements are underway for our clubs visit with TS1 LO, the very first Triumph sports car ever made! The details are as follows. Dr. Phil Hoopes lives at 1 Trendland Cove, in Sandy, UT, which is approximately 2455 E. on Pepperwood Drive. Pepperwood, can be accessed from Wasatch Blvd or take 106th South St. east from the freeway until it ends. Take a right and then the first left onto Pepperwood Dr for about a 3/4 of a mile drive. This is a gated community, so you will need to check in at the guard station in the left lane. Please try to arrive between 9 and 10 am on Saturday, May 5th, as this will help minimize the confusion for the guard. We can't park on Pepperwood Drive but we can park in the cul-de-sacs near the house or up by the clubhouse and plan on a short walk. Sadly, Joe Richards, (the restorer) is in poor health and will be unable to attend but Phil will have all of the pictures and scrapbooks from the restoration available for your viewing pleasure. Phil also owns 7 other old British sports cars and 1 Porsche (hey, everybody is entitled to 1 misdirected acquisition! Just don't let it happen again Phil. Think, breathe, eat, sleep and occcassionally bleed British, that's our motto.) All of them will also be available to see. We will plan to leave the house around noon for a drive up Little Cottonwood Canyon and have lunch at one of the restaurants up there. This is an incredible opportunity for the club to see a truely amazing and historically significant car, so lets make it a great turn out! Any additional questions, email me. We went once before and it was quite a treat to see. A huge thanks to the WMJR for including us. Here's the article from this month's Jag club newsletter on the event: ------------------------------------------------------- The story of Kirkham Motorsports and the attention it is bringing to Utah automotive interest and manufacturing expertise is a fascinating one. WMJR members will be treated to a personalized tour of their world headquarters in Provo, where the production of Cobra replica cars and parts will be on display. Even if you are not particularly a Cobra fan you will be dazzled by the craftsmanship, tooling, and technology employed in this enterprise. This not to be missed event will be 10am Saturday morning April 28. To reach the facility take the Center St. Orem exit (271) off I-15 and travel west 0.2 miles to Geneva Rd., turn left (south) for 2.9 miles. Keep left onto West 1680 North Street. Kirkhams is at 2575 West, on the right.. If you get lost call them at 801-377-8224 for guidance. Depending on interest there may be an impromptu lunch gathering after the event. Thanks go out to WMJR member David Hobson for facilitating this event. Paul, May I suggest that you send this link to everyone in the BMCU? ?It's Harry Metcalf's (Evo Magazine) homemade review of the Lotus Elan Sprint. ?He made this video on a beautiful, sunny day in the English countryside. ?I thought the owners of LBCs might enjoy it. ? http://www.evo.co.uk/videos/planetevovideos/281839/video_harry_metcalfes_lotus_elan_sprint.html?CMP=NLC-Newsletters&uid=d708ff75e9def57df8c5e173ff960683 ? It had a lot of meaning to me because my brother bought one back in 1964 and I think owns a Sprint currently. ?While we knew guys who owned MG-TD, MG-B, MG-A, A-H 3000, and even an Elva Courier cars and enjoyed jaunts and admired them all, the little Elan seemed very special albeit fragile and finicky. ?Come to think of it, weren't all of the British roadsters finicky, fragile, yet special? ?It was part of the experience of ownership and still is. He's got a friend down there who's in need of engine and transmission work on his Austin Healey 100/4 (BN1). If anyone here has a recommendation for him (nationwide, as he's down in Texas) you can email Bill directly at: bill_beecher at flash.net Thanks for helping out a fellow LBC owner. -Drew Begin forwarded message: > From: > From Cars & Coffee today I talked to a guy with an Austin Healey 100/4 (BN1) and he is asking for recommends for someone to rebuild his engine and transmission. I am terrible with names but I seem to recall that BMCU had a a few Healey owners that were pretty particular about their cars. Would you mind passing my question along as I am no longer on Mark's BMCU email distribution list. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
