Here's the story I bought the car about six months ago from a guy in American fork who had it for over 3 years in his garage, hoping to make it a father and son project however the first job they did the did wrong and they were unable to get the engine to turnover as they had omitted the spacer plate I Ordered one from spit bits and as soon as it was fitter the car turned over I have receipts from Spitbits for over $1500 for new parts including stainless exhaust, all weather door and bonnet, boot and rubbers. The cars is not a rust bucket and should make good example. So call me at 801 631 8288 for more details. I have to spend alot of time in bed at the moment so I would prefer phone. I first tryde a Phram PF8A Ford filder, thread and seal seamed to match, but it leaked. Now I have a NAPA Gold Wix 1068. The first time I tried to install it the seal apparently fell out of the groove before it contacted. I have tried it several times since. It still is leaking profusley. Have I busted something, or is it a trick to put the filter on? Do I need to chase the thread on the car mount? Or do I need to use a torque wrench? The surface on the seal plate does not look very good. Should I change out the seal on the filter with and O-Ring? Anybody tried that? If it that seal that is not working, I think the O-Ring idea might be good. I called the DMV and there is some confusion there as to whether an inspection was needed. My captain is working with them to help make sure they are on the same page. However, the law is very clear that a vintage vehicle does not need an official safety inspection. I will attach the link to the Utah Code book on the internet, which is actually the Utah Legislature page with all the current laws. You can see exactly what the law says. I would be happy to come out to your club meeting or tech day. Let me know when. You can call me anytime also. 435-830-2511. The link to the specific law stating a vintage vehicle does not need to be registered is http://le.utah.gov/~code/TITLE53/htm/53_08_020500.htm" target=_blank>http://le.utah.gov/~code/TITLE53/htm/53_08_020500.htm Look under section 1(b)(iii), it says a vintage vehicle is excluded from the safety inspection requirement. Also, you may already know this, but the law just went into effect that changes a vintage vehicle from being 40 years old or older, to 30 years old or older. I hope this info helps. The 1936 Hudson Stratton Sport Saloon has just finished a frame-up restoration just in time to take it to the Hudson International Meet in Oklahoma City last week where it was selected People?s Choice over the two hundred or so cars that were in attendance. That was a real thrill. While I was back in Oklahoma, my 1976 MG was with club member Craig Welk, Brigham for some much needed updates. Craig helped me switched over to the new Webber Carb system, removed all the pollution control devices, rebuilt the front end and finished up with new muffler (glass pack) and a stinger to give it that truly British sound. Just took it out for my first drive and I cannot believe what a difference these changes made. It is good to be back on the road again?.. See you all in the fast lane?
