trailer rental or transport company recommends? Good and CHEAP  if possible.

David-

I've done this a couple different ways. I brought a TR4 home from Portland
OR a couple years ago using a one-way rental from UHaul. Price was
reasonable and it was a simple process. The UHaul trailer won't work well
for the really small cars (like Spridgets) though.

I've also used the online service uship.com to find a shipper for a
motorcycle I had shipped. It is a site where you put up a shipment you want
to make, and various shippers will bid on it. You can then pick one to do
it if you find one you like. I had a good experience with the guy I chose.

I have a 74 TR6 with triple Weber carbs. When I purchased the car, I noticed
that the tube on the vacuum unit on the distributor was sealed shut. I
thought this had something to do with the Weber setup. But, I have always
had hesitation and a flat spot when accelerating.

Last week I had the car in to the mechanic. He noticed this hesitation and
hooked up the vacuum. Well, the opposite happened - the car ran worse. It
seems that the distributor on the car is from a very early TR6 or maybe even
a 250, with a vacuum retard instead of the advance that the later 6s need.

Does this make sense to anyone out there? AND, does anyone have a
distributor for a late model TR6?

Hey All,

Thanks to everyone for the offers and suggestions! For now I'm not sure my
dream of a MKII Spriget is going to happen. I have been asking the owner for
more pics but so far none. The cars are in Divide, Colo and he lives/works(a
lot) in Colorado Springs. I have put out a few feelers for someone in one of
the two towns to take a closer look but nothing so far. Do we have a sister
club in Colorado? Well, hopefully I'll get more detail pics and info soon.
 I still need to put the finishing touches on my first front end rebuild (for
my 68 Sprite) So I don't need to know yesterday

I'll keep those who feel my pain up to date on the progress.

Everyone
It is that time of year again for the annual "Run around the Lake".  We are
planning on April 16th (Saturday - Sorry for the short notice).  Hopefully the
weather will hold and we will have the weather we had last year!
We are planning on meeting at 10:00 AM at the Checker/O'Reilly auto parts
store in Kaysville.  The address is 315 W. 200 N.  We will depart at 10:30 AM
for a leisure drive east to Mountain Road and then north along Harrison Blvd.
to 12th street where we stop to allow the group to catch up.  After the
regroup we will then proceed up Ogden canyon around Pine View Reservoir,
through Huntsville, Eden and then up and over North Ogden divide.  I don't
think there will be any pull offs at the top that will not still be buried in
the white stuff.  After the drop down into Ogden we will head south to Kirt's
Family Drive Inn for lunch,   impromptu car show and visiting of friends.
After lunch everyone is on their own to travel to their assorted destinations
and home.   We hope everyone that can make will try, it is a nice early scenic
drive.

I've used Cornaby Railing and Powder Coating in Spanish Fork.  Though not in
Salt Lake they did excellent work on a old set of rims I brought in.

Everyone
Just another reminder about the "GREAT" drive planned for this Saturday.
10:00 am: Meet at the Checker/O'Reilly Auto Parts store ,315 W. 200 N.
Kaysville (Just east of Wendy's).
10:30 am: Departure, east to Hwy 89, north on Harrison Blvd., to Rainbow
Gardens, where we will stop to let the group catch up.  We will then head up
Ogden Canyon, around the reservoir, past Eden, Liberty and then up and over
North Ogden divide.  We will then head south to Kirt's Family Drive Inn, (a
50's style drive in), 1974 N. 400 E. in Ogden for lunch, showing off the cars
and catching up with old  and  hopefully new friends.  Hope to see as many as
can make it.

Keri,

Looks like no one knew what great British weather we were going to have.
Except for your personal bout with the hail, the rest of us enjoyed a partly
cloudy day with no precipitation at all!  I missed the "Around the Lake Run"
last year and I'm glad that I made it this year.  The scenery going up Ogden
Canyon was spectacular!  And the views from the North Ogden Pass were amazing
on BOTH sides.

Thanks for organizing this and thanks to Terry for being our guide.  It was a
wonderful outing for our LBC's.  Good Friends, Good Cars, Good Weather.
That's what the BMCU is all about!!!

Drew, Looks like there was a good turnout at Kurt's.  Sorry that I missed
it.  I opted to go to the Hudson Essex Terraplane Western Regional Meet in
San Diego, California and the weather was very "unBrittishlike" there.  Low
80's, sunny and nice.  Even got a bit of a "RED" tint to my skin as I walked
around the various Hudson's in the parking lot.  Look forward to seeing
everyone as the season moves on.  Thanks for the great photos and report.  I
really do feel guilty being the only BMUC member that owns a British built
Hudson...

Don't feel bad at all, just get that car out on one of our drives (I'd
love to see it!). Heck, I've been to more events in a truly non-British

Andrew,

It's not too terribly hard to fit it yourself. My father and put a new top on my 79 Midget in the better part of an afternoon. The only hard part I remember was drilling out the pop rivets in the header rail. 

Start at the back of the car and work your way forward. When you fit the front over the header rail, make sure the frame is extended. We made our mistake by tightening the bolts behind the seats too far. When we fastened the front, it was too high and we couldn't get the top up. 

Do it on a warm day, leave the new top out in the sun on the driveway for a bit.  It will be more pliable that way. If you still have an old beat up top on it, use that as a template to put the holes for the lift-the-dot snaps.

Dang!  I had forgotten all about the SCI (Spring Chicken Inn).  Robert and I

What do you guys think about doing this the first two Saturdays of each month?
In starting this last year, I thought every Sat. would be good, but I felt it
became a bit too routine.  What are your thoughts about the first two Sat's of
each month?  That way it might be better attended, it's still easy to
remember, and it shouldn't interfere with BMCU field day.

By the way my MGB is running, but it's too muddy where I live up in Samak.

Main St. Park City?  At that hour of the morning we could probably park
together near the bridge or up at Aw Shucks where more eats are at.  Glad you
like the random idea, it's more "us".  I remember a cookie shoppe near the

What do you guys think about doing this the first two Saturdays of each
month?
In starting this last year, I thought every Sat. would be good, but I felt it
became a bit too routine.  What are your thoughts about the first two Sat's

each month?  That way it might be better attended, it's still easy to
remember, and it shouldn't interfere with BMCU field day.

By the way my MGB is running, but it's too muddy where I live up in Samak.

Glad to hear your MG is running, Jay. Hopefully it will dry out one of these
days!

I agree that doing them less frequently is a good idea -- not sure what the
best might be though. Moving things around could be good too, but that makes
it a bit harder to get the word out. We'd love to see more than just the BMCU
folks out.

In true BMCU tradition, I expect this will continue on in some fashion without
too much organization. Just nice to see everyone and get the car out of the
garage!

	Sorry to spam the list, but I figured that some of you may know someone who
is looking for a LBC. I'm moving and won't be able to store my 1971 MGB
because I'll also be starting a master's program in the Fall and will need the
money (grad tuition = expensive!). I have an ad that should be showing up on
craigslist and on KSL soon. The car is in great shape, and I've been working
on restoring it for the past year and a half. It's currently registered, and
passed safety and emissions last July. Red exterior, tan interior. Runs and
drives great. Asking price is $6500. Email for photos or more information. I'm
sorry to be leaving the group; hopefully I'll be able to rejoin once I
graduate and/or get a large garage that I control over...
