1:00 PM departure.  It's an hour's travel time leisurely along the Front to
the Capitol and onto "B" St, up to Bonnyville and a right at City Creek Canyon
Rd. and the gate.  Then up to picnic area #24, I believe.

Well now that Miners Day 2010 has come and gone, and what a great time it was, don't let those engines get cold yet! As was mentioned last month, due to British Field Day's date movement, we had to move the annual Trapper's Loop run to Sept.18th. As in the past, we will meet at the east end parking lot of Hogle Zoo at about 9:30 AM and plan to leave around 10:00. We will make our way up Emigration Canyon (minding the bicyclists) through East Canyon, past the reservoir and on in to Morgan where will stop and stretch our legs, grab a quick snack, etc. at the Phillips station. Then it's on to Mountain Green and up onto Trappers Loop, past Snowbasin on one of the greatest LBC roads in the state which will bring us out at Pine View Reservoir. Then it's down to The Oaks for some fine outdoors cuisine for lunch before we break and head home. 
This drive is always a club favorite and moving it later in the year may add some additional "color", so don't miss it!
Saturday September 18th!

And don't forget Marty's hot dog roast this next Sunday...Sept.12, City Creek Canyon.

To those of you that missed it Marty's Roast up at the top of City Creek
Canyon was the most ideal setting in this whole area and the drive up to the
top was a real treat under the trees with the water right there all the way
up.  The site was perfect with an overhead shelter and the splashing water
along side.  Dreamlike.  I'd vote for an event there anytime.

The weather, the location, the food and the best was the company. We had a
wonderful setting there at the top of the canyon. What a location! It's hard
to believe that its actually in SLC. It really felt like we were very far away
from all civilization. I know that no ones cell phone was getting any signal,
which added to the sensation.

The pot luck feast was terrific. What an assortment of delicacies. The 100%
angus dogs smothered in relish and sauerkraut with mustard on SanFransico
sourdough rolls were fabulous. Desserts included devil's food donuts, fresh
fruit, three kinds of cookies and cakes.

Special thanks to the team. That is: Paul Jaroch, Pugs, and Barb. If it were
within my powers, I would nominate Paul as the "Club Member of the Month" for
his interest in furthering the club cause.

Since we were able to get a great many of the goodies donated (a final budget
is forthcoming) BMCU will end up sponsoring this fine event to the tune of
under $70.

Later in the evening there were some trout caught an thrown on the barbeque
and consumed along with any remaining beverage that happened to be handy.

In short, what a wonderful day!

It was mentioned today at the Trappers Loop Tour, that the Fall Tour was going
to be on the 2nd of October.  At the planning meeting in Feb, we had the Fall
tour scheduled for the 3rd, a Sunday event, with possible rain dates on the
10th & 17th.   Somewhere along the line, it appears this has been changed.
Please clear up the confusion.

Wow, a great day, a great turn out (I counted 28 +/- cars), and the hills were
alive with color.  Thanks, Clayton, for organizing this awesome tour.  I think
that it was one of the best I've been on.  We will have to discuss keeping

What a fantastic turnout for some great weather driving we had for Trappers
Loop! I want to thank you all for coming out and for those that were unable to
attend, you really missed out. We had at last count 25 cars carrying close to
40 people on the trip and what a great variety of cars! Due to the oil spill
in Liberty Park earlier this summer and the conflict with British Field Day,
we had to move this drive to a later date and based on the comments I've
received, we should look at making this permanent. We had perfect weather and
at least for this year, the colors in the canyons were absolutely spectacular.
We encountered two other car clubs during the day headed in the opposite
direction and got plenty of honks & waves and lights flashing from the Ford
Model A club just outside Morgan as well as the BMW group that was coming up
Ogden Canyon. We had alerted "The Oaks" when to expect us and they took us
right in with very little wait. A lot of good food and conversation was had
for lunch before everyone headed for home.
Just to give you an idea of the cars in attendance, we had 5 MGA's, 4 TR6's, 2
Austin-Healeys including Drew's bugeye which is back in service and looks
great, 2 TR250's, 2 Loti, Jerry Smith's beautiful XKE Coupe, a TR4, an MG
Midget,MGB,TF,YA, a Sunbeam Alpine, a Spitfire and a '62 Mini along with an
incognito Pontiac Solstice. Something for everyone.

In attendance were: Dana Green and a friend,Jon Maclean,David
Christensen,Steve Nelson,Darin Graber,John & Barbara Progess, Roger & Jamie
Dotson, Jerry Smith,Jim Stover,Rich Weyland,Duff Lawson & Chris Dunbeck, Roger
Davis,Marty Van Nood,Rob & Mary Foye, Bob & Valerie Lux,Larry & Margaret
Farrington,Dave & Anne Spendlove, Adam King,Wade Knapp and daughter,Floyd &

A big thank you to John Progess ... for "volunteering" Clayton for this event
at last years annual meeting.  Let this be a lesson to everyone of how
important it is to come to the annual meeting so that you too are not

Sadly we are nearing the end of another summer of BMCU activities but there
are still a couple of good events before we put the cars away for the winter.

Case in point, this weekend will be the "2nd Annual BMCU Swap Meet and Street
Picnic".  As last year the event will be held at Great Basin Rovers located at
342 W Hansen Avenue (approximately 1660 south) and you can only enter off of
3rd West.  Vendors can start laying out their wares at 9:00 AM and we will be
open for shoppers at 10:00.  If you are bringing a trailer or a large amount
of stuff, please call Bill in advance at 801.486.5049 so he can arrange a
place for you.  Lunch will be about noon and everything but your choice of
beverage will be provided.

Again as last year this event will be open to all of the local "British
internal combustion engine" clubs.  So mark your calendar for Saturday,
September 25th and make a point to grab a bunch of parts from the garage that
you know you are never going to use again and see if you can turn them into
cash while you eat a hamburger.  What a deal!!

If there are some particular parts that you are looking for, reply to this
email with a list and perhaps someone will meet you at the event with exactly
what you are looking for!

I'm needing TR4 parts. I am working on getting it safety inspected. I  
Mainly need interior stuff and some finishing chrome items. Any second  
hand stuff would be great - I'm getting good at cleaning old, old  
stuff and making them look and work good.

I'm trying to get it on the road for the last ride of the year next  
weekend.


seat belts (only need 1-2)
fender style rear view mirror (or possibly door)
Transmission cover - my cardboard one is getting really drafty!
glove box
older soft top (possibly use as a template)
chrome "piping" between fenders and hood as well as chrome on the rear  
fenders.
I need two "M's" for the front and rear Triumph logo's.

I'm sure there are many, many other things I need. They just haven't  
blown up yet and won't until the 11th hour. A good contact of someone  
who has a bunch of random stuff would be nice.

I have two smalls in gray and a few XL's of Larry Farrington's 20th
Anniversary design in gray and white.  That's it.  End of the line.  I'll be
"Holding the Bag" again at our meeting there at the Zoo or where ever Duff has
us depart from for the Fall Color Tour run in my black SUV.  Get 'em now cause
there ain't no more.  Got grill badges, clips and hat pins, key fobs too.
Step right up, I'll have the hatch open.

Golf shirts are on the way as are patches.

The next item up on our infamous "Lucas Calendar" is the Fall Colour Tour.
Use your English A to Zed dictionary, Colour is to color as spanner is to
wrench.

As with the Alpine Loop this year, this is one of the events that had no
volunteer for a sponsor.  Therefore your EFL (ever fearless leader) will make
it happen.

So, we will gather at the Zoo parking lot and go up Immigration and East
Canyons and then out to Hennefer.  Then we will wind our way back to Oakley,
UT, on the side roads and stop for a repast at the Road Island Diner.  Check
out the story behind this amazing building, it's incredible journey and the

menu wasn't working the other day when I tried it but I looked a few months
ago and they had a really interesting mix of choices.

for "Hey, wouldn't it be cool if we hacked off the top of a bottle of campaign
with a really big knife?"  So ... as they are the crazy French ... that's
exactly what they do.  It's quite a show.  They also then give out a free
sample.  From there you are on your own to get home, safely!

All of this will begin at 11:00 AM (for an 11:30 departure) on Sunday, LET ME
REPEAT, SUNDAY, October 3rd, 2010.  This is one of the events each year that
we try to schedule on the other day of the weekend.  This time of year we have
to be more aware of the weather so the rain date will be October 10th, the
following Sunday.  You may rest assured that I will be watching the weather
forecasts closely as the event draws nigh and the email the day before will
pretty much be the final word.  My intention however, is to stick to the 3rd
unless it's snowing!

... and a  most capable organizer too -
so here I am with my vehicle stored in Moab, sure would like to tag along on
this scenic drive..
Anyone have an empty passenger seat / need a navigator / photographer? [Will
be happy to pitch in for petrol, brew, etc - not much of a talker, however,
not easily phased by standard British auto mishaps, able to assist in pushing,
fixing stuff on the side of the road, etc]

Fellow Members,

It's on the site but allow me to pull your chains, this is it.  This is our
last and most beautiful drive prior to winter closing in and it will be a
gentle cruise to a place I don't think we have gone prior, the "Diner" east of
Park City in Oakley and then up to Deer Valley for a champagne taster, so to
speak.  You'll see.

We meet and leave from our usual east side at the Zoo parking lot there in SLC
at the base of Immigration Canyon.

Sunday the 3rd. 11:00 am.

Got the last of the shirts (learned this technique from Floyd)  SWAG as well.

from Coventry to Goodwood to commemorate 75 years of Jaguars.  This was held

Well, if I am to believe the weatherman, this may be the best and last great
LBC weekend of the year.  I know Duff has a great run lined up for Sunday,
but some of us still have the need to drive and have our coffee on Saturday
as well.
 
9:00 at the Kimball Junction Starbucks for a cup of Joe, great conversation
and what usually turns into a mini-car show for the locals as they come by
to view and visit.

            The longest train is 46 feet long.




            The scenery includes 900 signals, 2,800 buildings, 4,000 cars -

            Thousands of kilograms of steel and wood was used to construct the
scenery.



            The 250,000 lights are rigged up to a system that mimics night and
day by automatically turning them on and off.

euro to put together, the vast majority of which has come from visitors ticket
