Fellow members, I will be leaving the club as I have decided to sell my '66
MGB.  I drove the car to Eugene, Oregon to be left at The Sportscar Shop. Bob
thoroughly checks them out and gets them in top condition before selling them.
Had a couple of items that needed attention that nobody would have know had I
sold it locally, things I didn't  know about, but have now been fixed. If you
are interested, go to Sportscarshop.com, Eugene, oregon and it is the green
MGB with the white top. Thanks, it has been fun for the few drives I have been
on, but have decided to ride a Harley instead. Best wishes to a great group!

As I mentioned in an earlier email, Richard and myself are co-hosting a
"do-it-yourself" session this Saturday 11/13/10.



Here are the details:



What will we be doing?  Working on cars, finishing projects, sharing
knowledge, or just hanging out.  The idea is for people to bring their cars
and to take advantage of Richard's shop, equipment, and mostly his vast
expertise.  Everyone is invited to come just to do some
winterize/maintenance*, but also there will some group problem solving and
trouble shooting on memberbs projects.  So far Mitch will bring an engine
that we will evaluate, Terry will bring an MGB suffering the curse of Locus
(AKA electrical problems), Jerry is bringing carburetors from an MGTD to
rebuild.  We will be going all day, so if anyone has any other things, bring
them.



*Things to do: Oil change, grease, tune ups, rotate tires, wiring discussions,
motor and running gear discussions, Reface dash boards or any other wood work



We are looking for someone to do a more formal technical session, so let me
know if anyone has something to share or knows someone that might.  If we have
anything this will be around noon.



What kind of equipment can I use?  Car jack, paint booth, wood working
equipment, interior tools, pressure washer to name a few.  The flux capacitor
emitter is broken at the moment.  Bring jugs for old oil if you plan on
changing your oil, bring shop manuals, wiring diagrams, etc. if you have a
special project.



Where is it?  Richardbs house address is 4325 South Garden Drive in SLC.
That is 970E just off of 4500S behind Stellabs restaurant.  His shop is in
the back behind the house.



What else should I bring?  Car related media.  There will be a TV and
computer, so bring photos, videos, Thumb drives, links, etc.  Top Gear and
John Twist are good, Christmas music is bad.



What time is it?  8:00 AM till dark or whenever.



What about food?  We will be providing Coffee and Bagels in the morning, BBQ
lunch at 12:00.  Cost is none, donations accepted.

Since the messages come from a valid address, the BMCU email list passes them
on.

I will let those folks know that they need to fix their email. Do not follow

Because the marketing thugs at Microsoft have convinced folks that
the brain dead, virus spewing garbage they pass off as an operating
system is worth running.

So it is easy for bad guys to hijack email addresses and make use of
other people's computers to send out their spam.

One thing I will be doing this weekend is working on filtering these
out.  So far they all come with the (no subject) subject line, so any
messages to any of the Team.Net address without a proper subject
will get rejected.

BMCU List,

A friend and I think we have located the offensive file.  If you will all
search your entire file system for a file called KILLAPP.EXE then maybe we
can eliminate it together and stop the spread.  

It is most likely located in your c:\windows\system32 directories but you
should search everywhere just to be sure.

I guess the good news about this virus is that it is more annoyance than
damaging, but a good reminder that we all need to keep our anti-virus
software up to date.

BMCU members-

Recently a few virus emails have made it into our email list. These come from
member's computers or email accounts that have been compromised by the bad
guys. You will recognize these emails as they have no subject and have just a
link as the body of the email.

DO NOT CLICK THESE LINKS

This is one of many such email attacks going around these days (I work in IT
for a school district, so see a lot of this stuff on a daily basis). As
always, please practice good email safety and never click on any email that is
not expected or is remotely suspicious.

The members in question have been notified that their machines have been
compromised, and have been temporarily removed from the email list. We here at
BMCU central (okay, just Mark Bradakis and myself) are doing all we can to
keep the list safe, but we do need all of you to do your part to keep your
individual machines safe and secure. The modern Internet world is an unsafe
place, and the simple fact is that the bad guys are getting smarter.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me off list and I will
be happy to chat. If you think your computer has been compromised, please call
your tech support line or a reputable computer repair facility. If you don't
know where to go, I have a good friend and colleague who can help.

I just wanted to thank everyone who came out yesterday, the turn out was 
spectacular given that the day started with snow and ended with an Irish

and knowledge available to all of us.  Sorry if rust never sleeps and sorry 
if not all problems were solved, the prince of darkness is a powerful foe.

My name is David Mcentire. I have a 1953 MG TD replica that was my
grandfather-in-laws project for many years. Unfortunately the vehicle was
never completed before he passed away. I want to get the car completed for him
and his family but I am not an experienced mechanic and am looking for a shop
or individual that would be interested in helping me finish the car. I know it
is a rear engine Volkswagen motor that he had rebuilt. The wiring needs to be
completed and the seats put in and some other odds and ends. I would also like

   A big thank you for all that made it to the Tech session on Saturday. I
don't know who had more fun and enjoyed it more,  All that attended or me
helping out with some problems and listing to all the input with the many
project we completed and the ones many want to do in the future. I think we
should make Jim official keeper of the BBQ I understand he served all very
well including my English bulldog. Some of the project completed and enjoy
were the rebuilding of a leaky set of Su's one Mg td, Keven adjusting his
brakes, Mitch fixing a leaking wheel cylinder,Checking out a tr4 timing from a
lower altitude setting,And of course the the MGB with wire issues and a few
others as we worked on it. Keven's presentation one corrosion. Some of the
projects we didn't get too was dash refinishing and checking out a spite fire
motor before going back in the car, We are thinking of doing that around the
first of the month, so lets here some input on that. I hope every one enjoyed
the help form all the members attending and we have many more of these in the
upcoming months to come. Also a big welcome to a few new members i understand
attended. Great photos Paul, I have already added them to my files.

I sure hope I'm not the only one who is taking advantage of the unseasonably
warm weather to drive their Britmobile.  I had a wonderful drive this
afternoon.  Sure, I had gloves, gortex jacket, and a hat that covered my ears,
but driving around with the top down and not FREEZING was awesome!   I
received lots of smiles from people, too.  I prefer to think that they
realized how happy I was to be "topless," but probably there were some who
thought I was crazy.    Looks like only until tomorrow afternoon and then the
Alpine will be wrapped up for the Winter.  So, get out and enjoy the last warm
day before the snow comes!!!

WOW!!!!  Brownie, that is one stellar picture.   Beautiful!!!

I just got back in from my last ride of the year.  I checked my anti freeze,
strengthened it since we're going to be in single digits next week, and went
for a ride to circulate the new fluid through out the block.  Now, since I
don't have the luxury of a garage, I need to get the car cover on and then the
tarp wrapped over that and tied down for the winter.  Always a sad day.

So, all of you, check your anti freeze today and be certain that your engine
is protected.  Discovering a cracked block the next time you drive is not a
good thing to experience and it is expensive.

Actually pretty nice today if you have a coat and don't mind having cold

Came across these interesting photos of the Morgan factory...

The Morgan Motor Company located in Britain doesnt change in a changing
world. Not only is it still independent, but it also makes each car by hand. A
base model is about $44,000, with some cars costing up to $300,000. People
wait for over a year to get their exclusive hand-built cars with the shell
made out of metal and much of the vehicle made out of wood. Working on the
wood interior, workers use metal shears to individually shape a hood because
each car has to be different. Every year Morgan produces about 600 cars. The
company will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2011. It has a long and
interesting history, and is still run by the same family: the Morgans. Founded
by Henry Frederick Stanley Morgan known as HFS, it was then run by his son
Peter, and is now run by Charles, the son of Peter Morgan.

Everyone, this is probably the 7th or 8th time I have received an email from
someone I know that only contains a link with a name that looks interesting.

You computer has been infected with what is probably a non-destructive virus
that is hi-jacking your contact list and sending advertisements for Men's
Health products to all your friends from your email address.

What you need to do is get a copy of McAfee Virus Scan or other quality
anti-virus product and keep it up to date, they update these files at least
once per week.

Although I moved to Utah to snow ski, I still like to cruise around in my LBC.
