This ought to be an easy event to get club support for. Let's face it, you got to drive, so ... drive the LBC to work, to the grocery store and to the Massage Parlor. Okay, maybe not, but every where else is good. Be seen enjoying your car instead of always working on it! While your at it, honk and wave when you see another LBC out there and if you don't know the person and you get a chance, make sure they know about the BMCU. This week is about having fun driving our cars and letting everyone see that we use them and not just when we are on our way to one of our events. So get out there and drive! Tally Ho! If you are planning to attend the registration forms are attached. The Car Show portion is a scheduled BMCU event. GGDuff Sent: Saturday, June 12, 2010 4:28 PM Subject: Healey Days Registration & Banquet So far I have received 24 car registrations for the Classic Sports Car Show sponsored by the BAHC and WMJR to be held in Park City on 7/31/10. Out of that 13 are members of the BAHC and 5 are from WMJR and the balance (6) are from the BMCU. Some members of the BAHC belong to both clubs and are bringing cars other than Austin-Healey's but I counted their cars as being from the BAHC. The show will run from 10am to 2pm and the cars should be in place facing downhill by 9:30 am diagonally parked north of 8th on Main Street. If anyone else cares to register please send me $12.00 payable to the BAHC for each car you care to register along with the attached registration form filled out in full and sent to my address on the form. As we offered and did last year, anyone from the BAHC or WMJR that will be in Park City for the night on Friday 6/30, Susan and I will host an open house from 5 to 7pm. We will have appetizers, ice and soft drinks but we would like for everyone to bring their own drink of choice. Please bring things for our auction at the banquet and items to be raffled off after the car show and after the awards have been given. Also attached is the menu from the Grubsteak for our Banquet. We don't need to make a choice until we arrive at the Grubsteak that evening at 6pm but you do need to send me $35 payable to BAHC for each person if you are going to attend so we can get a count and pay them in full when we arrive. The $35 includes tax and gratuity and I have confirmed that and our reservation. If you haven't registered a car yet but plan to and will be attending the banquet you can just send one check payable to BAHC for the total of both. If you have any questions please let me know by email or to my cell phone, 435-640-3347. Mail can be sent individually or grouped or not at all (you can just view online). Best of all though, almost no maintenance. If we want to use it I can add admin (or even ownership) to whomever should have it. Google groups has worked extremely well with the local Porsche Club for the last 5 years and now serves about 250 members. Theirs is configured for public access http://groups.google.com/group/irpca/ as you can see, but the lists can be set as private also. If we want to use it just let me know, Adam. The rest of the park is open except the pond and the east road. I was fairly confident that it would be open by this Friday but it looks like the odds are slim to none. I have tentatively requested the date of July 17th, which is open but am waiting for a confirmation back from the powers that be although it is extremely likely we will get the date. According to SEMA, the resolution was the result of an effort to raise awareness of the vital role automotive restoration and collection plays in American society. In recognition of this inaugural event, car clubs, restoration businesses, and enthusiasts will be hosting events all over the country - car cruises, club gatherings, and other special events. We encourage you to participate in this monumental day for our hobby - enjoy your cars, drive your cars, and tell someone about your cars and about "National Collector Car Appreciation Day." American Collectors Insurance and Hemmings Motor News are uniting to celebrate this day by hosting an event at American Collectors' headquarters in Cherry Hill, NJ. Join us on July 9th to celebrate "National Collector Car Appreciation Day." We have a great day planned - including cool cars, prizes, food, music and more. Stay tuned for more details. For a listing of all events on July 9th, visit SEMA's website. Considering we had our cars all shined up for BFD but now its cancelled how about an unofficial Mini-BFD at the "Park City Cars & Coffee" this Saturday? The club would have held it anyway if not for the BFD at Liberty Park. The Kimball Jct. parking lot area is huge and there's a few places within walking distance to have breakfast if you want more than coffee. Stay there for a few hours to do show & tell and organize drives for those who want to do one, or just stay there for lunch or drive into PC for lunch. There's a new bowling alley there at the Redstone Center along with a movie center and a bunch of restaurants. People could stay right there the whole day. Everybody could start at the Starbucks first then spider out to a number of different drives. Drop down by Mountain Dell Res, take the Lambs canyon exit do the East Canyon drive down to Hogel Zoo or go through Morgan then on through Mountain Green to Huntsville. Have lunch at the Shooting Star. Or go south from PC to Heber and back down Provo Canyon (don't know the status of the road work) Go east past Jordanell on to Francis & Oakley? Lots of options but we were all set for BFD so just show up for a big PC Cars & Coffee. Unless there's another plan I'm going to show up for the PC Cars & Coffee at 9 as usual and see how many others show up. I had a free pass for Saturday anyway, beautiful weather and a shiny car so nothing to loose. Thanks, Floyd. I just got back from a quick run up Emigration Canyon, to check the conditions. It appears that the new surface has been "run-in" and there is not a problem with the "chip & seal." I did not hear nor detect any stones being kicked up from the vehicles in front of me or going the opposite direction. I believe that the Emigration Canyon route should be fine for our trip to Park City on Saturday. The part that I encountered that had been resurfaced was only a little over a mile long near the bottom of the canyon. I turned around at the firehouse since the new surfacing did not go that far up. Even if there were more resurfacing farther up the canyon, there has been so much traffic over those areas that I believe that flying stones should be no more a problem than they normally are. I'll be in the east Zoo parking lot at 0815 for a 0830 departure for Kimball Junction.
