We will meet this Friday evening, August 6th, at 6:00 P.M. (for a 6:30 P.M. departure) from the parking lot of the Riverside Branch of the Salt Lake City Public Library. This office is located at 1575 West 1000 North (just east of Redwood Road on the south side of the street at the bridge over the Jordan River) in Rose Park. From there we will go down Riverside drive, over to I-215, then up the Legacy Highway and some side roads to our final destination, Little Taste of Britain restaurant and English grocery. For members in the north end of the valley, you can meet us there at 1095 North Main Street in Layton, UT, at about 7:00 P.M. Don't worry, they also have Chicken and Sausage dishes on the menu also; however, I believe that everyone who attends is required to order the Fish and Chips. (If I recall correctly it is actually part of the Club by-laws.) For those of you who can't stand the suspense you can select your dinner from the menu or do some window shopping in the grocery store at www.littletasteofbritain.com/. Or check out www.urbanspoon.com/r/54/1463743/restaurant/Salt-Lake-City/Little-Taste-of-Bri tain-Layton for some reviews. We have never tried a Friday evening drive like this before so I don't know how the turn out will be but we'll find out. Lets go for a nice evening drive and some dinner! There are several PC streets torn up and blocked with heavy construction equipment (replacing water pipes?) mostly around the high school and Prospector Square area. The cafi is located east of the mall parking lot we are meeting in on the west side of State Street. We are meeting on the east side of the South Towne Mall (take the 106th South exit off I-15 going east, enter the mall parking lot off 106th South or from State Street about a block north of 106th South). We will plan on departing at 10:00 AM. For those who are coming from down south, we will be stopping at about 10:45 AM at the C-Store and Chevron Station in Alpine just before SR 92 enters Alpine Canyon. Bring your own lunch or find food in Heber. There is no raffle this year and no one is preparing food. We will again use the pavilion at the Heber City Park -- turn left off the Heber main street along the north side of the park. Turn left again across the grass between the cones toward the pavilion. _______________________________________________ Bmcu at autox.team.net Donate: http://www.team.net/donate.html Archive: http://www.team.net/archive Forums: http://www.team.net/forums Unsubscribe/Manage: http://autox.team.net/mailman/options/bmcu/wbeech at flash.net From floyd_inman at msn.com Thu Aug 12 08:53:10 2010 From: floyd_inman at msn.com (Floyd Inman) Date: Thu, 12 Aug 2010 08:53:10 -0600 Subject: [Bmcu] Park City Miner's Day Parade Message-ID: As we reach the middle of the driving season a man's heart turns to the drive down Main Street Park City and the many e-mails you will once again be receiving from me. I may suggest that we take the Frontage Rd along the east side of I-15, over to the Alpine Hwy rather than taking the freeway or going up the long steep Traverse Ridge Rd method. We took the East Frontage Rd on our way back from Torrey in May, and it was paved, relatively smooth, flat, and low traffic volume. The car is in really good shape in places and okay in others - typical stuff. I've had it a few years now. I was told it was in storage for 20 years before that. There are a few extra parts as well as a tonneau cover. I have a lift that is included with the price. I'm asking $4200. I'll deliver the car and lift within about 30 miles for full asking price. Yes, the mail server is set to strip attachments. What I'd actually prefer for the BMCU is forum based discussion groups, maybe someday. If you wish, you can post your ad, with pics, in the Swap Meet forum at http://www.team.net/forums and let folks know where the pictures can be seen. I wish I had the money, I still really want a Triumph with that body style. Saw a nice looking Jasmine Yellow TR250 at Bailey's this morning, really wishing I still had mine! mjb. (I have a table reserved but need to know if you are coming) 9:30am: Gather at the mall parking lot and be fully briefed on the route for the day, or just follow Jon H. 10:00am: Depart the mall en route to the Chevron station on Hwy-92 in Alpine for mid-morning break and pick up additional drivers coming up from the south 11:00am: Depart Alpine and head for "The Loop" and on to Heber via Midway. 12:00am(est): Arrive in Heber at the city park. Drive right onto the grass from the north side by the backstop and line 'em up! As this is a picnic you need to provide you own basket & drinks(no alcohol), there are plenty of drive through places in Heber to grab a burger or sandwich to go. OR, you can have Mimi's fix a lunch for you before you leave Sandy and that will keep you from scrambling around for something to eat at noontime in Heber. I'll be on the radio this afternoon in Heber to tell the locals about our coming, so they don't greet us with shovels and pitchforks. Actually, we will end up with quite a few folks stopping in for our impromptu LBC car show. The weather man says it will be a beautiful day so put your top down and come enjoy a drive that has become a great BMCU tradition.
