I am making all plans to change out the transmission at Hill AFB and if Hermann recommends some change to the driveshaft so this won't happen again I need to be prepared as I won't be in the area all that long. In case you all are interested the rear seal is definetly the culprit, I took the tranny cover off and can see the destroyed seal. But in trying to move the shaft back and forth I can't see how it struck the seal, unless there is other movement of the original slip shaft that would make it move further than I can by hand. I can tell you this much the floorboards won't rust for a very long time the rear seal leaked a lot of oil on the inside floor boards, that might be the reason I didn't notice the leak......humm? The host hotel is either the Rainbow or Peppermill and the cars are all in the large parking lot across from the Rainbow. It's an event that requires an entrance fee to put your car in the actual show area. I heard this event mentioned but wasn't sure if anyone was taking their car to show, or just going to wander around. It's billed for Father's Day but from experience the real show is Saturday and most everyone starts for home on Sunday morning. My family and i go every year and this is my first year as a member of BMCU (and my first year as a classic mini owner). I'm planning on getting my car gussied up and bringing it for the show, However my car, while presentable is not complete ( lots of stuff i would still like to do to it.) My question is even though it is still now 100% complete should i still bring it to show, or are we trying to be selective in what we want shown are the highland games? Also who else is planning to attend and what cars are planning to show. By the way my car is an '82 yellow and black rhd mini cooper (1275). As this is my first BMCU event I'm not really sure what the protocol is so if anyone wants to help me out here I'd listen to any advice. -Dylan ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: R J DAVIS Date: Tue, Jun 10, 2008 at 9:12 PM Subject: Re: [Bmcu] Wendover Car show this weekend To: the-farr-side at att.net, bmcu at autox.team.net How about the Highland Games at Thanksgiving Pt? So you're saying "live with it", right Bill? I'm fine with it for now just as long as it passes safety in August. If there is a length limit, then i was thinking of getting it inspected now before it spreads further. It's not in my way any. In fact, it is looking like it will circle my BMCU window decal. It is time for all British car and motorcycle enthusiasts to get their rigs out of the garage, clean them up and get them running as well as can be expected. All British cars and bikes in any condition from 100- point restorations to works in progress, old daily beater or rigs for sale are welcome. The more the merrier! All the British car/bike clubs are participating. Don't let those other marques make your club look like slackers. Call your fellow club members and get them to the event! For the brave of heart, we will have the road course set up again this year on a closed access road inside the park. It promises to be as noisy and challenging as previous years! During the event there will be, shop talk, bench-racing, catching up with old friends, drawings for raffle prizes and more. Liberty Park has many amenities. One of the largest and best playgrounds in the city, the Tracy Aviary and a small amusement park with a Ferris wheel and merry-go-round. Even if your family doesn't share your passion for LBCs (little British cars), there will be plenty for them to do while you are getting your fix! Proceeds from this year's event will be donated to Saint Paul's Episcopal Church's Community Outreach Fund. Their food pantry, which is the only one in the state of Utah to be open on Saturdays, is one of the recipients of this fund. Saint Paul's is providing volunteers to assist with the event so the organizers can have more time for some fun, too! Saint Paul's also going to be providing food within the event this year. Get ready for fresh grilled hot dogs, hamburger, sandwiches maybe even donuts in the morning. Liberty Park is located between 500 East & 700 East and 900 South & 1300 South. The BFD event will be held in the northeast quadrant of the park. Enter off 1300 South and drive east and north about a quarter of the way around the park. You will see the event on the left. Please help support Saint Paul's Outreach Fund by bringing your cars and bikes out to join in the fun. Registration starts at 8:00 AM and we hope to have most bikes and cars in place by 9:00 and we encourage folks displaying vehicles to try to stay until 3:00 but if you can only make it for a couple of hours - thats fine too! The registration fee is $10 per bike or car. A $5 donation is requested per adult. Kids 12 and under are free. I want to give everyone here and opportunity first. We both love the car, but our first baby is due in January and while we can still drive it through the rest of summer we fear that fall/winter won't be the best time to sell a convertible. The car has a new clutch, fixed/upgraded exhaust system (so it's not totally original). It has a big trunk for a two seater convertible and it is definitely the funnest car I have ever driven. Here is a picture of the car: http://www.flickr.com/photos/93954065 at N00/190539693/ I should mention that this picture is a picture of the actual car that is for sale. The previous owner was nice enough to take several pictures and give them to the public domain. When we list it on craig's list and ksl we will be asking $16,000, but if someone who appreciates British cars and maybe Lotuses specifically wants to buy it we will be more flexible with the pricing. Anyway, let me know if you are interested. Thanks in advance.
