Google earth is something, I have visited every place I have ever lived at going back 50 yrs and the pictures in most were good enough to see the cars in the driveway. If I had InfraRed I probably could of picked out the 40 Ford V8 Flathead Engine I buried next to the lemon tree on Poppy St. Thanks for offering your project. I am in a nice RV park and we are not allowed projects that don't look like they are running. The Warden just does not understand us men need projects to justify life. Right now I have finished my 8' x 20' inclosed awning sun room and 12 ft fence blocking off a good area from awning back to my work shed with 12' x 13' patio on the side of it. I can almost get away with working on my sailing dingy getting ready for the season. Google Earth it and I will wave to you. With that said I will be looking for a project I can drive home. I have bought two repair manual CD's on ebay so I am ready for either a Sprite or TR. I am glad the tech Session went well yesterday and I think it was a good deal to have it and if I was closer I would of been there watching . Departure will be from two locations, the State Capitol and Checker Auto in Kaysville. Both groups will meet at Rainbow Gardens at the mouth of Ogden Canyon for a pit stop and then continue on. * 10:00 am The Salt Lake and south group will gather north east of the capitol overlooking City Creek Canyon at E. 500 N. and E. Capitol Blvd. That group will take the surface roads up into Bountiful, Centerville, Farmington and up to Old Hwy 89 to Harrison in Ogden and Rainbow Gardens at the mouth of Ogden Canyon east of 12th St. and Harrison. *10:30 am Our northern group will meet at Checker Auto Parts in Kaysville, 317 W. 200 N. just east of Wendy's. That group will travel north on Hwy 89, to Harrison, to Ogden and Rainbow Gardens to join the Salt Lake City group. From that meeting place we'll motor up the Canyon to The Oaks for lunch. Teddy Roosevelt took this route with other adventurous dignitaries on a motor excursion such as ours but the road had not yet been paved. Pictures of the event are in the Ogden pictorial archives. You'll feel the history of the area from your windshield at 30 mph. From The Oaks we'll drive up to Pineview Reservoir in the pastures of the Ogden Valley to Eden, on to Liberty then up and over the North Ogden Divide, enjoying the spectacular view of the Salt Lake Valley. Then it's down from the Divide to Country Boy Dairy in North Ogden / Harrisville for dessert treats. This is a lovely and local route that is rural, where we and our cars really want to be. No freeways here, just gentle touring in the British way. Come bat around Ogden Valley and enjoy this delightful area for our Spring Run. (Ed. note: Paul tells me "bat around" is a British term from the 70's where you take your motorbike out and ride around the countryside just for the sake of riding.) -- Paul Jaroch From RFMARKMANN at aol.com Sun Apr 6 20:43:22 2008 From: RFMARKMANN at aol.com (RFMARKMANN at aol.com) Date: Sun, 6 Apr 2008 22:43:22 EDT Subject: [Bmcu] FYI: Colorado Group Message-ID: Gary: Please feel free to forward. This is the oldest continuously held rally in the United States. The MG Car Club, Rocky Mountain Centre, has sponsored the event for all 56 years, which began when a hardy group of sports car enthusiasts discovered the joys of top-down motoring in Colorado when MGbs still had lift-off tops and running boards! The majestic, cool Rocky Mountains of central Colorado, with some of the most breathtaking scenery in America, form the backdrop for the Rallye Glenwood Springs. The event is a marvelous opportunity for car enthusiasts of every marquebBritish, American, German, Italian, Japanese, French, Swedishbto join together for a weekend of unique events. Through fifty-five previous years, vintage and classic cars from as far away as California and Illinois have shared the road with their newer counterparts for a weekend of fun and octane-related festivities. 250 enthusiasts in more than 130 cars are expected to participate. The event begins on Friday with a scenic Road Tour from the Denver suburb of Arvada to Glenwood Springs. Saturdaybs main event is the Rallye Glenwood Springsba time-speed-distance rally to challenge both the novice and the experienced rallyistbwinding through the canyons and mountains surrounding Glenwood Springs. The weekend culminates with the Banquet on Saturday night and the Car Show, Funkhana, and awards presentation on Sunday. For those who want to turn the trip to Glenwood Springs into a weeklong vacation, you can emulate Presidents Teddy Roosevelt and William Howard Taft in taking high tea at the historic Hotel Colorado and fishing the trout-laden Roaring Fork or Frying Pan Rivers. A more active week could include a wild raft or kayak trip on the Colorado River that runs right through town, a strenuous hike to Hanging Lake at the top of spectacular Glenwood Canyon, and a thrilling gondola ride up the mountain to spend a few hours climbing through Glenwood Caverns, with a relaxing swim in the huge hot springs pool and spa in the evenings. And nearby are both ends of the spectrum for mining town explorersbcelebrity-filled Aspen in one direction and quaint former coal and quarry towns Redstone and Marblebwhere the marble for the Jefferson Memorial and Tomb of the Unknown Soldier originatedbin the other direction. Deciding just how bad is bad is really a matter of experience, I guess. Do you have a decent straightedge to check? Usually I use a Scotchbrite pad in a die grinder to clean up the mounting faces of exhaust manifolds before putting them on a car. Often that is sufficient prep work. Using decent gaskets will help seal as well. Moss Motors offers what they call a High Performance gasket made of a fibrous composite material, which sell for something like $35 per pair, Moss number 695-070. For about twice as much one can get a set of compacted graphite gaskets from Uncle Jack Drews, a well known fellow in Triumph vintage racing circles. These are probably overkill for a street car, but they do work. mjb. Why? The intake port spacing on the later heads is different than the early ones, you'll need to also get a matching manifold, or live with really poor flow from mismatched ports. I for one would like to see more discussion there, and save email traffic on this list for "official" club announcements, event reminders and such. Maybe I'll set up a bmcu-chat email list for topics such as this oil discussion. As the admin for the forum, I get 10, 20 sometimes even as many as 50 or so bogus users trying to sign up and spam the forum. I tend to delete them pretty quickly, and may have inadvertently deleted some real club members. If you tried to sign up for the forum and nothing happened, let me know, I'll see what I can do. mjb. It's demask red, which is comparable to burgandy. It is in great condition, both mechanically and bodywise. It runs amazingly well. It is a complete blast and easy to drive. It has been the awe of british motor shows, and wanted by many people over the years i have had it. The engine has most of the stock parts, but i have bought new parts and pieces along the way. This includes new carburetor parts, new fuel pump, starter, distributor, master/slave cylinder for the clutch, new clutch and throw out bearing, and other parts. The interior is in GREAT shape. The interior is all black except for the seat covers. It has new carpet, new indian blanket seat covers, and is in extraordinary shape. All the gauges work well, and the console is fitted with a new MP3/CD player with new speakers in the door. The buyer of the car will also recieve all the parts that are on the garage shelf. This includes origianal Lucas headlamps in new condition, a rebuilt starter, rebuilt master clutch cylinder, original block bumper pieces, and other parts. If you have any questions please dont hesitate to contact me at rossbeecher at msn.com or call me at 801-771-2418. I am really looking for a great home for the car. Thank you.
