Thanks for the update Rande! In one of his books he told the story of how
he earned the money to buy the Tiger and what it meant to him.
Do you have any photos of his car at the show?
Eric

Subject: [Alpines] Andy Rooney's Tiger

As I reported a few days ago, the 1966 Tiger IA belonging to the late CBS
commentator Andy Rooney was on display on Boston(MA)Common as part of the
first annual Boston Cup Auto Show invitational concours today. His daughter
Emily Rooney, local public broadcasting(WGBH) radio and television
presenter, was on hand to tell the public about what is now her car,
complete with a thick notebook with photostats of all corespondence and
invoices since 1966 when Mr.Rooney bought the car new.

I'll give you the rundown of the car, as it appeared at the concours. Some
of this information is already in BON.

Paint code 86 Forest Green
Engine # 6817 B19KC
Finned Tiger aluminum rocker covers
Stock air filter housing
Chromed alternator with integral voltage regulator Blue 289 with Ford four
barrel intake manifold and Holley carb Nardi wood steering wheel Holes for
ammeter and clock blanked off as stock Vinyl glove box door Selling dealer -
Felix F. Callari Inc. dba Continental Motors, Stamford, Connecticut Silver
Minilites with four P195/60/14 Kumho Solus KR21 tires Directional switch

The car was recently returned after being restored (Whitehall,
Hopkinton,MA), apparently away for more than two years. Unfortunately, Mr.
Rooney passed away before the car was completed.
The restoration was going to be a gift from his daughter Emily.
