Are there any clearance issues with the factory hardtop? You have zero chance of getting the soft top out of the top cover panels though. We've never had a soft top on the Series II, so I can't say for sure, but on our Mk I Tiger we can get the soft top up and down by completely removing the two side pieces of the enclosure. Yeah, it's a pain, but it can be done, at least on the Mk I Tiger. Is there some reason it couldn't be done on the Series II? I built the roll bar myself, so I wasn't going to chime in in case the Autopower one is different. I modified the side covers, so they don't really latch in, they just sit there, when closed. The back panel is the pain for me; I can only open it halfway at most. Tight clearance with factory hardtop but okay. On the soft top I ended up fitting the side doors so they come straight up and out. This allows the rear door on the soft top to pivot forward just enough to get soft top up. The rear of the side doors have a pin and socket set up and on the front of the side doors I made a sleeve to fit into the original eyelet bracket. OK for the Tiger, I know, but the soft top mechanism for the Series II is substantially different. I'm actually not worried at all since the car in question is my Series I race car and it has no soft top. I'm thinking of converting it to more of a "Sebring-style" of car for vintage racing, rather than running it open-topped with a shorty windscreen. I'd like to put some street miles on it, too, and fitting the top and a proper windshield would be just the ticket. Plus, it'll still be vintage racing eligible. For us, it just complicates the procedure. Take the side panels off, raise the soft top, put the side panels back on. Then take the side panels off, lower the soft top, put the side panels back on. But wait! That is ugly . . . But is not impossible.
