Coatings - the difference is ceramic coating provided a thermal barrier to keep heat inside the coated item. Primary benefit is in exhaust. The hotter the exhaust gas the better it flows. Think of a quart of oil that is cold be and another identical quart that is hot. The hot oil will flow faster. Appearance coatings, such as JetHot, do not provide as much thermal protection as. BTW there are better ceramic coatings out there.
I am having my intake and exhaust manifolds refinished. A couple questions, first I am having trouble getting the carb insulators off the intake, any tricks you can suggest? Also, the two brass pieces, do they come off or is it better just to tape them off? I am thinking about having both either Jet coated or ceramic coated (although seems to me the same thing) and but open to refinish suggestions.
