I have a different angle that could possibly help, if you haven't already considered this. Do you have enough strength to start off in 1st gear? If so, have you considered 'slip shifting' like truck drivers do in their rigs for the other shifts? I can do it
and my brother, who is actually a truck driver, excels in it. IMO the Triumph tranny is very forgiving in this technique. It almost won't let you slip into the next gear until the RPMs are right. </div>
