If indeed the pedal were that worn, it'd be loose and sloppy all the time. Because this problem develops only after 20 minutes when things have warmed up, I'd say your buddy has a clutch problem. I've been down this road, before. Twice. The pressure plate is failing and only announces this when it's hot. There's a slim chance the release fork is moving on the shaft as another lister mentioned but this isn't usually a temperature-dependant affliction. If your buddy is convinced that it is the pedal, perhaps a liberal dousing with WD-40 will allow him to confirm his suspicion.

Colin

'74-1/2 that I always thought was a '75

From: 6pack-request@autox.team.net
To: 6pack@autox.team.net
Sent: Thursday, September 10, 2015 8:00:01 PM
Subject: 6pack Digest, Vol 14, Issue 2

Send 6pack mailing list submissions to
6pack@autox.team.net

To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit
http://autox.team.net/mailman/listinfo/6pack
or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to
6pack-request@autox.team.net

You can reach the person managing the list at
6pack-owner@autox.team.net

When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific
than "Re: Contents of 6pack digest..."

Today's Topics:

1.
