My 72 6 was a perfect example. I spent a ton of time cutting and welding/brazing both the body and the frame. But in the end it was more solid than its original. And thanks to Ted with his frame strengthening kit.? The Z however was uni-body. A good friend had one and it basically fell apart in the early 80's. He took it to a frame shop and they couldnt do a thing with it. And there is no way to restore it. At least on the 6, if the frame was shot, you could to to a junk yard and pick up one in decent shape, same with the fenders/ doors etc. I do see one Z at car shows but I am sure it is not a NE car. I do see quite a few 6's though. One thing that the Z had better on the engine were the carbs. A SU clone made by Hitachi. I fitted? a pair on my 72 as I was not a fan of the ZS. I lived in San Francisco and wanted a car that was cool and reliable. What I really wanted was a TR6 or TR250 - common sites in the City - but reliability drove the decision. I later also had a 1985 Nissan 300Z 2+2, both this one and the 240 were great cars; fun to drive and very reliable. Finally, when our mini-van phase of life collided with my mid-life crisis, I bought a white 1975 TR6. I?ve owned this car for almost 23 years and have rebuilt/restored every part of it. I love this car. I also have a ?68 Camaro and a 2003 Corvette, but I seem to drive the TR the most. There?s just something about driving a (comparatively) slow car fast. Here?s a picture.
