[6pack] [TR] hood latch issue

Agree 100%.  It sounds like the pin is not going down the center of the latch and there is a significant sideways force applied causing enough drag to resist the spring pressure to open up.  If you get it properly centered it will pop up every time. But it takes a bit of fiddling to get it right.  A little grease helps, too.

Good luck.

Same t\hing happened to me once and I very gingerly adjusted the mechanism a fraction one way and then another until I hit the spot where it would “pop”.  Even now it sometimes requires the help of a finger.    I guess you could put a small amount of paint from a paint stick or similar around the opening and see where it is scraped off.  Good luck!

Subject: [6pack] hood latch issue    1972 Triumph TR6    I have a backup hood release but that’s not the issue    If you only pull either the regular or backup release, nothing really happens and you cannot open the hood after that.  BUT if you also attempt to pry (or is that prise?) the hood open at the same time, it comes open.    In other words, the hood opens fine, from either the regular hood release, or the backup release, IF and only IF, you pry a finger under the hood and give it a little help.    Now I won’t argue – this is a pretty great theft deterrent as I usually disconnect the battery while its parked.  But it’s a royal PITA and I’d really like to fix it.    Thoughts???       ** triumphs at autox.team.net **
