Message-ID: Hey guys, On the TR6, doing a Diff freshen-up. Replacing the seals. Got the ones from Moss. Put oil in it last night, and today I see it's leaking from the pinion seal. The center area the seal presses into is a little scratched up, result from removing the old seal. I'm assuming that's the issue. However, TRF sells much more expensive seals. SO, do I try another Moss seal, try to smooth out that surface, and maybe even a thin coat of the gasket maker? Or is the TRF seal worth it? any advice? If Speedi-Sleeve comes in that bore diameter that's another option. If the scratch is too long and not too deep, polishing it out with a cylinder hone is another option. OR you could chance it as is using a good sealer. Dick > On May 25, 2021, at 4:33 PM, im sloane wrote: > > Hey guys, > On the TR6, doing a Diff freshen-up. Replacing the seals. I put in another seal with some Hylomar, and that fixed it. It helped that that seal is only $1.65 from TRF. I haven't been keeping up with my 6pack folder. Did anybody mention this? Someone once showed me how to tell the difference in a TR4 and TR5/250 body. Looking at the engine bay, on the right inner fender well, there is the indention for the carbs, same as a TR6. This is not found on a TR4. On a TR4 both left and right are smooth curves. I pulled up the ebay listing for that car, and it looks like a TR250 to me, based on this. Carry on. No stripe. But the seats look to be correct for a 250. Is that dash correct? Andrew Uprichard Jackson, Michigan -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
