[6pack] 74 TR6 fast idle

 Hi Folks,
I have a strange idle issue with my 74 stock Stromberg carb TR6. When driving and come to a stop the idle is high, around 1,100 RPM.  Blipping the throttle does nothing, but if i quickly pull the choke out and push it back in it drops to around 800 RPM and stays there. It drives fine but the next time I come to a stop it does the exact same thing and only corrects itself when I quickly pull out and push back in the choke. 
Any suggestions?
