[6pack] Front suspension bushes advice

I, too, have made this change.  It was about 25 years ago and they are still in good shape.  I used a silicone-based grease to fend off squeaking.

They do transmit quite a bit more road harshness.  Pot holes are particularly traumatic.  But the car tracks straight as an arrow.

I assembled with some lube to discourage any squeaking. If the surfaces of the fulcrum pins are pitted I would replace them, they are inexpensive.    I did poly front and rear and did not notice any significant difference in the ride. It was at a time when the rubber equivalents were deteriorating faster than people even had a chance to install them.    Stan          From: 6pack <6pack-bounces at autox.team.net> On Behalf OfYahoo

Subject: [6pack] Front suspension bushes advice    After experiencing wonky steering when backing up, looks like I see a collapsed bushing on lower wishbone.    Since the spring has to come out to get wishbone out and bushes are sold in sets, I guess I could do upper and lower wishbone bushes on both sides.   Presume poly bushes are way to go?  Even poly doesnt last forever  Should I go for a pricier and namebrand  bush such as Prothane? In 25 years Ive never replaced the fulcrum pins.  Something I should do or look into? Stiffer front and back TRF springs and front spax adjustables 10 or 15 years ago  Any othet advice? Thank you  Bruce Simms, mildly upgraded 73    Sent from Yahoo Mail on Android _______________________________________________
