[6pack] Transmission or clutch issues

I think you may have a sheared taper pin in your clutch fork. I recently had a similar problem. Here is an easy way to determine if it is the taper pin. After warm up put the car on a lift with a helper in the driver's seat. Have the helper depress the clutch pedal and observe the travel of the clutch fork lever. If it moves approximately 1/2 inch your problem is not your slave cylinder. Disconnect slave cylinder from the clutch lever. From the forward position slowly move the clutch fork lever to the rear of the car. It should move easily for a short distance until the throw out bearing makes contact with the clutch. I suspect this is where you'll find out if you have a sheared tapered pin or not. I think you will be able to move the clutch fork to the rear an additional distance with some resistance. The sheared pin provides some resistance to the rotation of the clutch fork lever. If it is solid and does not move this additional distance the shear pin is probably OK.The fix is to remove the transmission through the inside of the car and replace the taper pin.

Subject: [6pack] Transmission or clutch issues

Here is my problem which I need some guidance.  When I start in the
morning everything works fine.  I can put the car in reverse without
any problems.  I can up or down shift easily.  As things warm up, it
gets harder and harder to shift gears.  It is almost like the clutch
is not going far enough especially into first or second.  Even when
I double clutch it.  When I try to put it in reverse, it grinds.
I can get it into reverse but it does not want to go there.  If
I turn off the engine and start up with the clutch depressed, it
    will work without grinding.

I made sure I had the DOT 5 fluid up to full.  I got an adjustable
link connector between the slave and clutch and have lengthened that
out quite a bit without success.  Transmission oil was low, so I
    filled that.

What do you think?  My regular mechanic thinks it is the clutch, but
why does it work when cold?  HELP!
