I'm going to try responding from my phone, which will be a first for me🍼.
The drive shaft needn't be removed to replace the rear seal. This shaft has sliding splines. Push the front flange on the drive shaft as far as it will go, over an inch, and to the side. This should give enough room to remove the tail shaft, exposing the seal.
